Our youth, our future generation, are being exposed to so much ugly in the world. This negativity and absence of compassion in the world continue to tarnish their creativity, academics, and allowance to be a child without fear or worry.
Thirty years ago, a group of college missionaries realized a need for change. UrbanPromise is an international 501(C)3 nonprofit that works with our youth to support their growth: socially, academically, physically, and mentally. UrbanPromise has hosted over 1600 student interns from all over the world. Thirty thousand donors support the mission of UrbanPromise. The organization operates in 20 areas across the globe; they are here in our backyard in Camden, NJ. UrbanPromise continues to provide an empowering effect on over 700 Camden NJ children and teens each year.
UrbanPromise supports academic achievement, job support placement, life management skills, and spiritual growth. They lead workshops, events, fundraisers and offer summer enrichment camps. They have a “Street Leaders” team that encourages teenagers to mentor, tutor, and coach younger children in the area.
Camden, NJ, is ranked one of the poorest and most violent locations in the United States; this statistic should not place a label on the children of the city. UrbanPromise is here to helps children blossom into strong, intelligent, and confident community members by providing positive and motivational tools. Nearly 90 percent of UrbanPromise teenagers graduate high school and over 80 percent attend college or vocational training.
The event will beheld at the Moorestown Community House. A VIP preview event will run from 6:00-6:30 pm, and general admission begins at 6:30 pm. Guests will enjoy wine, spirits, and delicious bites of cuisine representing the area’s top restaurants and caterers. As guests mingle, they will have the opportunity to bid on an array of items in the silent auction. One of the evening’s highlights includes a live auction that offers VIP culinary, sporting events and travel experiences for the attendees to bid.Following the main event, Taste of Promise is offering a VIP post-dance party for the first time, with a live DJ! The event proceeds will benefit UrbanPromise by helping to fund their various year-round youth programs.
