Project Runway Star Opens Philly Atelier

On Saturday, August 20, 2022, Prajjé Oscar opened a showroom at the Crane Arts Building in Philadelphia (1400 N. American Street, Suite 106, Philadelphia, PA 19122). Prajjé O. Jean Baptiste is a Haitian born, US based fashion designer. He competed on Season 19 of Project Runway.

Prajjé was raised by his grandmother in Haiti until age 14 when he came to the United States. With the support of his adoptive parents, he pursued his love of fashion attending Massachusetts College of Art in Boston and developing his first fashion line. His work has been featured in Harper’s Bazaar Vietnam, Elle, Rolling Stone, and Teen Vogue. Prajjé describes his design style as “retro chic, yet remarkably wearable.” He is best known for his glamourous evening dresses--and wow, were there incredible ones modeled at this opening event for his showroom! He states, “As a designer I have a responsibility to the woman for whom I design so that she feels beautiful, confident, and modern - above all I wish to bring her affordable luxury.”

His first fashion house opened in Boston in 2003. During the pandemic, Prajjé pivoted to more of a casual, leisurewear line with these fun prints below and moved his business online. Philadelphia is so fortunate that Prajjé has decided to open his current showroom here in our area. Guests at the opening event were treated to a fashion presentation of the new collection with live models, musical performances, and Haitian-influenced foods from Di Bruno Bros.

I became a groupie of Prajjé watching him on Bravo and to have him choose our city to set up roots is so wonderful. Besides being mega-talented, he is grounded, witty, charming and of course, stylish. We cannot wait to see what he does next!
