NYC Ferry Direct to Sandy Hook Returns July 11

Manhattan beachgoers have a better way to to hit the beach at Sandy Hook.

Seastreak Ferry has continued operating through the shutdown, but only on July 10 received the go-ahead from the National Park Service to drop off and pick up passengers directly at the dock in Sandy Hook park, part of the Gateway National Recreation Area. Find the Sandy Hook schedule here.

Seastreak provides more frequent service from Manhattan to Highlands and Atlantic Highlands, where a person can hire a bike or get a taxi/Uber to Sandy Hook.

Sandy Hook has been swamped with visitors since May, often reaching capacity with 4,000 vehicles allowed at any one time. Cars pile up on Route 36 hoping enough cars will exit so they can enter.

Over 4th of July weekend, capacity was reached before noon each day.
