Good morning, Upper East Siders… er, perhaps a little further South for this one. In honor of New York Fashion Week, what better way to celebrate than do a little shopping yourself? My personal favorite spot to both gaze in awe at over-priced yet luxurious pieces and snag some vintage steals is SoHo, just steps away from Washington Square Park and the East Village in Manhattan. While you’re strutting around in your most comfortable shoes, hoping to get a glimpse of Timothée Chalamet or Harry Styles, be sure to peek in some of these most beloved shops.
1) Isalis
Hands down, Isalis is one of the most well-known, almost-always-guaranteed-there’s-a-line-out-the-door boutiques in the area. Notable for their trendy accessories (hello, printed cowboy boots) and magnificent House of Sunny stock, Isalis like clockwork produces the BEST sales and deals appropriate for each season. One of my favorite features is their color-coded sectioning; if I want a blue, snakeskin raincoat, I know exactly where to find it. Although Isalis’s store is truly lacking in physical size, I can almost always find the perfect head-to-toe outfit in minutes. Just beware: their gold jewelry does turn.
2) Sunday SoHo
Sunday SoHo was heavily popularized by TikTok in June, and for good reason. Their clothes, trendy as ever, hang on suspended racks, giving its showroom a sleek, luxury-brand feel. My favorite spot to shop with big groups of friends, perhaps after a brunch at Sant Ambroeus, Sunday SoHo features pieces that are fit for a celebrity Instagrammer on a vintage spree. What to look for? Maxi-dresses, miniskirts, lace accents, oh my!
3) Peaches & Cream Boutique
Looking for the perfect corset bodysuit, or those long shorts perfect for a summer-to-fall transition? Peaches & Cream is your savior. I would describe them as Pacsun-esque, without the Los Angeles or antsy teen vibe. Equipped with nude-colored tops and bottoms that are sure to make you stand out in a crowd, Peaches & Cream is for the lady who needs essentials. If you’re going to go on an irresponsible clothing haul before the colder months hit, this location is the perfect fit for you… and so are their adorable sets.
4) L’Appartement Sézane
This sustainable, Parisian gem is just the kind of elegant shopping experience you dream about. Yes, you. Sézane offers shades of pink, brown, and beige fall wear, all while maintaining their cult-favorite denim, jewelry, and knit selections. If you’re a statement belt kind of gal, you will absolutely adore this store’s 90s feel. Not only is Sézane picture-worthy, but inside its walls, the warm glow envelops you like a cuddly hug. (Am I getting emotional about a clothing store? Possibly.) End your shopping trip with a macaron from Lauderee and a look around this boutique; you won’t regret it!
5) Henrik Vibskov
For both my ladies AND gents, Henrik Vibskov Boutique has it all. Enter hats, shoes, and clothing. Although this store is also a little tiny for the amount of shoppers who adore visiting, Henrik’s gorgeous experimental pieces are worth the venture. The oversized sweater-lover, sheer top-connoisseur, and theatrical yet minimalistic wearer are most welcome, but anyone who loves to be bold will certainly find what they’re looking for inside this boutique. Originally opened in Copenhagen and Norway, Henrik Vibskov is revolutionary, and the insider’s favorite location in SoHo.
